Who We Are

Aran Fisherman Knits is a small family business ran in Westport, Co. Mayo. 

Our granny Molly originally started handknitting Aran Sweaters & Cardigans for the locals from her house about 90 years ago. Grandad was a butcher and sold meat throughout the West of Ireland and would bring Molly's Aran knitted pieces with him in the van. 

Molly eventually setup a small shop next to grandads butcher and established a locally recognised business. A great woman who took no nonsense and rared six boys & one girl whilst working.  Grandad died at 40 leaving her with alot to manage but she continued on with the shop and my father continued on with the butcher.

Aran Fisherman Knits is continuing on the heritage of the Irish Aran sweaters which to us are the ultimate symbol of Ireland. The Irish aran wool pieces we sell our made by expert craftspeople using the traditional Irish methods.
